Our Story

From the Eastern Himalayas to Your Table

Organic Treasures began with something very personal — the food we grew up eating in Sikkim.

Sikkim, nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, is India’s first fully organic state. But for us, its connection with food goes much deeper than that. It is home.

Growing up in a vegetarian family, our kitchen was always simple. Fresh milk and curd, homemade ghee, seasonal vegetables from our garden, and traditional foods prepared and preserved at home were part of everyday life.

We grew up eating food whose origins we knew. We knew where the vegetables came from, how something had been prepared, and often who had made it.

As we moved beyond Sikkim, we began to realise how difficult that connection can be to find. Organic Treasures grew from the desire to share a little of the kitchen we grew up with.

Food That Begins with Home

Our idea is simple: offer food we would be comfortable serving to our own family.

That does not mean making grand promises. It means knowing as much as we reasonably can about what we sell, choosing our sources carefully, keeping our range focused, and being straightforward with our customers.

We want Organic Treasures to feel less like a catalogue of packaged products and more like an introduction to foods, ingredients and traditions from our part of the Himalayas.

Rooted in Sikkim and the Eastern Himalayas

The Eastern Himalayas have their own remarkable food traditions. Mustard and radish greens are fermented and dried. Tender bamboo shoots are preserved during the growing season. Dallay Khorsani brings its distinctive flavour and heat to local kitchens. Fruits, berries, dairy and seasonal produce are transformed using methods passed through families and communities.

Many of these foods are familiar in homes across Sikkim and the surrounding Himalayan region but remain relatively unknown elsewhere in India. These are the foods and traditions we want to help bring to a wider table.

Our Treasures

We deliberately keep our collection small. Our range includes cow ghee and selected traditional foods from the Eastern Himalayan region, including Gundruk, Taba fermented bamboo shoot, Dallay Khorsani and Bhakimlo ko Chuk, a traditional preparation made from local sumac berries.

Rather than filling our store with hundreds of products, we would rather gradually build a collection that has a genuine connection with the region and that we understand well enough to stand behind.

From Source to Your Table

We work with regional farmers, producers and small kitchens and continue to build direct relationships with the people behind our foods.

Whenever possible, we want to know where an ingredient comes from, who produces it, how it is prepared, and what actually goes into it. As we grow, we want this traceability to become even stronger.

Our goal is not simply to sell a jar or a packet. It is to create a clearer path between the people who grow and prepare these foods and the families who eventually enjoy them.

Honesty Before Claims

Trust matters enormously to us. That is why we believe a food brand should be able to explain plainly what it sells.

Although Organic Treasures was born in Sikkim — India’s first fully organic state — we do not automatically describe every product as “organic.” Where a certification, production method, ingredient claim or source can be verified, we will say so clearly. Where it cannot, we will not pretend otherwise.

The same principle applies to words such as “A2”, “organic”, “wild”, “chemical-free”, or any other special claim. We would rather give you accurate information than impressive-sounding words.

If you ever want to know more about a particular product or batch, ask us.

The Kitchen We Want to Share

Organic Treasures is still a young company. We will continue discovering remarkable foods from Sikkim and the Eastern Himalayas, working more closely with regional producers and gradually expanding what we can bring to you.

But the idea at the centre of the company will remain the same as the kitchen in which it began:

Simple food. Known origins. Honest ingredients. Made or chosen with the same care we expect for our own family.

From our home in the Eastern Himalayas to yours.

Welcome to Organic Treasures.
